Back Stage Pass
As a fabric industry outsider this was about the coolest thing I had ever seen, my first time at Moda. This machine, called a double and roller, goes a million miles a minute and rolls a fifteen yard bolt faster than, well, a really fast thing. The lovely men and women who work these wonder things keep pictures of their families and friends taped to back of it. I think it’s so they have something to focus on or else they would all get dizzy and fall over. That would really slow down production not to mention the added cost of fanning and smelling salts. I thought it would be safer if they wore seat belts but they weren’t very receptive to the idea of being literally “tied” the their jobs. I have thought it over and I get that now.

wow! i always pictured the bolts being gently folded by hand…why, i don’t know; it certainly wouldn’t make for speedy and efficient work! i definitely like those huge rolls of fabric, though…eye candy!

A little birdie told me that Ms. Tula Pink’s “Nest” was going to be seen again in an future issue of American Patchwork and Quilting. Is the rumor true? I guess we will just have to wait and see.

How cool is that! So much pretty fabric in one place. I’m dizzy too. In a good way.

Hey Kiddo
Love watching your creations - very talented. Be seeing you at Portland. I am envious - you can scoot over to the warehouse and see your own goodies being packed.

I loved my visit to Moda, I can’t wait to go back. It’s better than Disney World I would imagine. The rollers are a million miles a minute!
PS I just got my hands on Flutterby charm packs and jellyroles. It’s my favorite fabric line to date. You’re brilliant Tula!

Do you design your fabric solely in Illustrator or do you use Photoshop to do the repeats?
