Inside Out… In More Ways Than One
You know its time to post when you start getting complaint emails. Sorry kids. Life in Pinkerville is sporadic at best. I have been intensely working on some new stuff for the past 6 weeks and it all needs to stay in the oven a little longer before it is ready to serve, so to speak. It has nothing to do with food, I’m just hungry I guess.
I do however have a fun little tid bit to share with y’all. I wanted to make a light spring quilt to put in my living room. You know, as a reminder that winter will eventually end and I will once again feel the warmth of the sun on my face. I have a vague memory of what that may be like.
I was looking at my collection of Nest fabrics, made some color choices and then the whole pile of fabric fell on the floor. I discovered in my haphazard clumsiness that the back side of the fabric was exactly what I was looking for. How fun is that! I made the free download pattern for Nest from the Moda website using only the back sides. I think it turned out super cute. It will look great in my living room if I ever have enough free time to actually finish my living room.

Oh, that’s a really neat idea to use the wrong side of really strong fabrics!

My grandmother has an old quilt that uses the wrong side of many of the fabrics throughout. It’s one of my favorites! The quilting on your blanket is gorgeous!

I wish I had the patience for such loveliness.
It’s beautiful and will definetely bring the warmth of spring and summer a little closer. Regardless, the rest of your living room:)

Funny, I’m 11 blocks into this exact pattern also w/Nest! I was thrilled to see the free pattern on the moda site and I thought it was to great. Your quilting looks stunning. I was just going to do larger meander, but I think your choice really makes each square pop. Very nice.

clarification, my fabric is strong/right side out, but the same pattern/fabric. Love, Love, Love it!

Great looking quilt. I have always thought about using the wrong sides of the fabric but have never tried it. It definitely worked with your Nest fabric. Good job!

Cute! Do you machine quilt your quilts yourself? I love it. I have an important question for you, my sister is getting married in December and her theme is anchors (her fiance is in the navy). I am doing her invitation, but I was wondering if you could design a good anchor graphic for me to use? I liked the stuff you did for your Neptune fabric line, I just need a good large jpeg of a decorative anchor. Could you email me at rosemaryamos@yahoo.com if you are interested and let me know what you would charge? Thanks!

I have made that quilt. I actually made it for a sample in our local quilt shop. Only one I have done. I am so proud of that quilt. But I have also made 2 other quilts out of that same fabric. I love it. Now I want to do one with the back side, that is really brilliant. When I saw the picture, I thought it was the spring colors of the collection.

You are brilliant! You just doubled your fabric stash and it didn’t cost you any money!! Hope to see you at market! Sheri

What fabrics are under your name at the top of the blog? They are really pretty.

This is crazy gorgeous! There are so many times I’ve though what a pity it was you couldn’t see the backs of fabrics, and you’ve just shown them in such a magic light!

Hello! I’m writing to tell you how much I love your collections for Moda Fabric. Your latest “inside-out” quilt is wonderful! Last spring I designed an apron/tote for knitters and crocheters. I finally have a website/blog and an etsy shop accessed from my website. I decided to have a featured designer each month and my first is YOU! I have used fabric from Full Moon Forest, Flutterby, and Nest. I will be buying from your Neptune collection soon. I’m not a quilter, so it has been a joy to have a reason to work with so much beautiful fabric. I wish you continued success. With appreciation for your work, Mary Shooshan, KOALA Caddie(TM) Yarn Craft Aprons

Hi Angie! The fabric on my header is from my Flutterby collection. I probably should have updated it a while ago. There are a few places that still have it online I think.
Oh, and Amy I am totally not pregnant. Are you trying to start rumors? You are crazy. See you at Market!

Very funny! Great quilt idea, I have the Nest fabric and pattern here too, but I also have a 2 year old, maybe one day I will get to put it together… In the meantime, it will have to look pretty just sitting here! Can’t believe you were getting complaint emails, that is just crazy ;P Take care, looking forward to future fabrics from you!!!!!!

I just found your blog, and I love EVERYTHING!!! Makes me want to break out my sewing machine and make something,…….. anything. My skills are pretty limited, but I can sew a mean straight line (most of the time).
I’ll be back for more inspiration. Take care, Karin
