1st on the Block

 totes.jpg

I am so excited about Hushabye that I can’t stop making stuff out of it. I am running out of room to keep it all so I am giving it away. Yay!

Free stuff! If you want one then leave me a comment, tell me a little something about yourself,  and I will randomly pick 4 winners to be announced on June 15th. It’s just that easy. I mean, come on, they’re super cute right? You can be the first person(s) on your block to have a little bit of it. Hushabye won’t be in stores until August so it will be like an extreme sneak peak. You can make your local shop owner jealous if you so desire, unless of course your local shop is in Stewartsville. In that case it’s my mom’s shop and she already knows all about it.

**Remember** You don’t have to worry about being clever, the winners will be randomly chosen. I don’t play favorites.

GIVEAWAY CLOSED!!! Winners coming up next!

  1. I would love to win this!!!
Thanks for not making me think of anything clever!!!

  2. Those are lovely.

  3. I’ve just recently found you and boy and I smitten! Keep turning out all this beautiful stuff. Loving the green colorway of this line! Best, Lysa

  4. I love it. The bags are just gorgeous. We are starved of great fabric shops where I live, so you’d only be making my quilting buddies jealous !

  5. Yummy fabric…I need to get me some of that!

  6. Wow, those are just beautiful! I’d love to own one!

A little somethin’ about myself… I am extremely accident prone. If it could happen, it will happen… to me! At one point a couple weeks ago, I counted 7 wounds, just on my left hand, all from different incidents! Argh!

  7. Ooooh how excited would I be to win!

My birthday is June the 18th so a bag would be a super duper birthday present!
Particularly the green one, or the blue and coffee one on the end!

  8. OH i love these bags and I love the fabric!! Can’t wait to get my hands on it!! :)

    I’m just a small town girl…

  9. Love the fabrics and love the bags! The green, blue and brown match just about everything I own! Can’t wait for the fabric to hit the stores!

  10. I almost fell off of my chair when I saw your post about this fabric. I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

Something about me? I would be more excited about meeting you and other favorite fabric designers than pretty much anyone in hollywood. And one of the first bags that I sold was made out of your flutterby prints and I loved it!

  11. I wish I was nearly as talented as you!
oh and I love sneak peaks!

  12. I think I have to ditto Amylouwho’s comments – I live in LA, and probably wouldn’t know a celeb if I smacked right into them (unless their bodyguards got huffy with me)…would much rather go to Quilt Market! Hmm…other random thing – I’m using Neptune to do crazymomquilts.blogspot.com ‘s star quiltalong… Thanks for such a great giveaway!

  13. I truly love your fresh take on fabric…incorporating the animals! I really cannot wait to see what you’re doing with the patterns your designing. I love to sew and have been sewing since I was 4 years old. I am trying to get my daughter excited about it as well. She is 12 and its hard to compete with all the electronics out there. Wish me continued luck!

  14. I can’t express how excited I am for this line. I’m one of the lucky ones who still has a fat quarter set of the Full Moon Forest line…so I have a few precious owls in my stash. But this palette…oh my. Hushabye is going to be the theme for my baby’s nursery. I can’t wait for August! Thanks Tula!

  15. Oh, what a great giveaway! I’m a mom of four and live in a really small town (the closest quilt shops are 65 miles away)…and love family, fabric, quilting, and sewing! I’d love to have some Hushabye…all the colorways look gorgeous!

  16. Beautiful! Each color will be nice.
I also like your new kit”Hashabye”, can I get blue and green one as a kit?

I’ve been excited to see many reports about the Spring Market. There’re so many things that I want to purchase!

  17. Love the new fabric line and have really enjoyed Nest! I have 5 children and when they were all young they were 5 under 5 (twin girls were the last) and now they are all 32-27. Now I have 6 grandchildren and wish I could retire! So I could quilt to my hearts content:)

  18. Wow, I would love to be the first on the block! Maybe even the first in the state!!! I have recently moved from Utah to Florida and haven’t been able to find any quilt shops that carry your fabric, or any other trendy “New” lines. Some shops have a bit, and I mean a bit…. I am a lonely quilter so far, haven’t met another quilter who has the same joy as I do….maybe soon.

  19. I would love one. They look beautiful.

  20. What beautiful fabric and such a cute name besides! I would love to be the first one in Canada to have some Hushabye fabric in any color at all, it would be too hard to pick! Thank you so much!

  21. Wow! What gorgeous fabric!
    Okay! I confess… I LOVE fabric!!!
    =^..^=

  22. I love your fabrics! I have a thing for bags – this is right up my alley :) Thanks for sharing!!

  23. Woo hoo!! I am currently making my very first quilt out of your neptune line, and I would be thrilled to have one of your bags!

  24. It was your fabric which first got me into quilting when I moved to a new city and didn’t know anybody, and I can’t wait to get the latest.

  25. I love your fabric! I have some of the purple owls for awhile now and I don’t want to cut into it!
The bags are awesome and I’d use one well :D

  26. Your bags look great, and I’m all for being first on the block. about me…I just surprised my best friend (who lives 2000 miles away) for her birthday, and it was great fun.

  27. Your fabric really is so fabulous! I just can’t stop admiring the owl print!

I’m mom to 3 little ones, 1, 3 & 4. Little 1yo just finally went to sleep at nearly 1 am and his big sisters are bound to wake me up bright and early, so I must head to bed, but instead I’m drooling over fabric blogs. :) I call my self a quilter but am really mainly a fabric collector. I keep telling myself one day I’ll have time to sew all the quilts I have in my head!

So kind of you to give these cute bags away!

  28. I just love your new range, hope we get to see it in Sydney this week at market- I will be ordering some sampling to make great things!
    Helen in Oz

  29. Something about me? I really love pink … and red …. and orange …. and green. (You get the picture).
The pink tote for me please!!!
    Andi :-)

  30. I hardly ever sleep, unless it’s time to get up….then I’m exhausted.
I wish I could be vegan but I just can’t give up cheese.
Great giveaway! They’re all beautiful. I’d be proud to own any of them.

  31. I love your Neptune range and now I’m lusting after Flutterbye. It’s not easy to get some of these great US quilting fabrics in Oz (and our own gorgeous fabric industry is very small and therefore good fabric is very expensive). I would love to win some! I love the circles and butterfly prints in particular.

  32. You cna naver have too many bags…..and you certainly wouldn’t want to miss out on one of these….count me in!!!!

  33. Wow, that is a stunning range of fabric. I love the colours, and I’ not usually a pastel sort of girl :-)

  34. BEAUTIFUL line! I am having so much fine playing with Neptune right now. I can’t wait to play with your new one!!

  35. Tula,
I love that you are bringing out Hushabye. I didn’t come across your first line until Flutterby was ending and Nest was coming onto the scene. Since then, I have sewed with Nest and Flutterby combined. I love that these two color ways are interchangeable. I got lucky and found some of the Full Moon Forest in blue on ebay. I learned about your fabric through my friend Jamie because she sewed me an apron out of the brown Full Moon Forest. August is when the new line comes out, and I will be stopping my craft vacation to go back to work. I would love a new tote bag for my first day of school. Thanks for the give away.

“Somewhere in Texas, if you’re looking for me”

  36. just gorgeous! Thanks for the giveaway. Something about me…I spend way too much time surfing the internet! I find so much inspiration online, but then I’ve run out of time to actually make anything!

  37. OKay I have used just about every one of your fabrics in all my favourite projects, so I need this bag, seriously! It will inspire envy in my office. Something about my self, eventhough it doesn’t have to be clever, you did the work so I should give you something good . . . on all major holidays at my parents I still eat on divided plates (adult sized). Yes it’s odd but I don’t like my food touching.

  38. well considering I live all the way over here in Australia it probably won’t hit our shops for ages!!!! all the more reason to put my hand up for some yummy Hushabye goodies!!!

  39. Wow, those are so fun looking. I would love, love the green and blue one. I am so excited for you to have this line come out as well. I have it marked on my need to buy with my gift certificate and the month date that it will come out at Fat Quarter Shop. Thanks for giving up a sneak peak!!!

  40. Random info – I turn 40 on June 17th. I am counting down the days!

  109. I finally did it! I finally decided that my addiction to fibers was unquenchable and am now pursuing a BFA in Fibers at the Kansas City Art Institute. Thank you for being one of those who inspired me and gave me that little push in the right direction. (Your mom and her store helped too – if I had not shopped there I would not have found your fabric, fallen in love, and rekindle a desire to sew!)

You know, it would be fun to show off a Hushabye bag on campus, and my current purse kinda sucks…Maybe we could even arrange some kind of exchange, now that I’m a weaver…I actually might be looking for someone to create something out of one of my weavings. If that interests you let me know.

  174. I love those bags! And the fabric is delicious!

I am just returning back to quilting after being away from any sewing (except mending!) and I am still addicted! I am looking forward to making your quilt in the latest edition of American Patchwork & Quilting!

Hushabye is absolutely gorgeous, and I would love to hold it, touch it, and make it into something adorable! Or, have something adorable made with it. Looking at your work inspires me!

  190. I am Debi, mother of two grown daughters, and 2 grandchildren. By day I am an IT executive, but nite an active quilter. I love your designs and have purchased your fabric several times. Your bags are absolutely gorgeous. I wish I had 1/100 of your talent.

  191. These bags are too cute! I can’t wait till your line comes out…August is too far away.

My name is Kristy and I live in Hawaii. Something interesting about me…hmmm, I’m a New Year’s baby. I came into the world with a bang.

  192. Oh, I would love to win! My name is Kaye, I’m from Toronto, and I have a seriously bad fabric addiction. Fun story: I showed my Mum the turquoise squirrel fabric from your Full Moon Forest collection this past weekend and told her to “find what was hidden in it”. It took her awhile but she was absolutely tickled when she did; I think I may need to make her something out of it now :D

  193. AAhhh such cuteness!!! OMG these fabrics are gorgeous so pretty the line will be a total sell out! Now if only my little patootie can Hush…A(hhh gotta go)…BYE!

  194. I love Hushabye (maybe even more than I love Neptune) and I can’t wait until August!!!

  195. I’m just a novice when it comes to sewing ….my sister got me started quilting a couple years ago. Now I have a grand-daughter, so I’m biting the bullet and learning how to make clothes. Your fabrics are beautiful and inspiring – what better way to spend the day working with something beautiful for someone beautiful.

  196. Love your fabrics! I burned myself 3 different times about a week ago, I also burned my neck on a light bulb once and poked myself in the eye with a safety pin, how’s that for some info :P

  200. Girl you are SO popular! This is awesome!!!!!!!!!

  201. I so want to make a jacket out of this fabric. I just have to decide which color to make it in. Wouldn’t a purse go so nicely with it? You bet I’d be showing the purse out here in Concord, Calif to all my quilting buddies and shop owners.

  202. Love your fabrics. I would love to win one of your purses and I would definitely carry it proudly!

  206. I love ALL your fabric. Do I see little owl faces????

  207. Love ‘em! Something about me is that I am a closet organizer. I love to organize things. I buy more food than what I need just so I can go home and put all the labels facing forward. So pretty!

  208. I’d love to work with the collection. Thanks for the Random instead of Profound Input. Have a great success at market!

  209. Grateful you don’t play favorites! And hoping I’m lucky. Those are darling bags and fabulous fabric. I will be the envy of all my crafting neighbors.

  210. I just finished the nest quilt in nest fabrics as a birthday prezzy to my 13 year old. I would love to try the qilt again in hushabye.

I have a question. I know I should wash fabrics before I start making them into a quilt. Right? But when I washed layer cake and particularly the jelly roll strips, I got a thready sheddy knot. Is there a better way to do this? It is so very tempting to start quilting with the perfectly ironed and perfectly cut pieces as the arrive. Is this a very bad idea?

I would love to hear from experienced quilters.

  211. Love the new fabric! I can’t wait to see it at my local quilt shop!

  212. Ooh, love your fabrics. You were featured in great new magazine launch Sew Hip Magazine here in the UK, so I’ve just come to have a little look! Would love to be included in your draw, but don’t worry if you’re not posting to the UK; I’ll just have to buy some won’t I. Darn it, as I don’t already have enough fabric, ahem…!
    Catherine

  217. Pretties! Love love love!

  218. This is such a BEAUTIFUL range! I can’t wait until it hits the shops. 220. Those colors are gorgeous! I can see why you can’t stop thinking about them.

A little something about myself… well… I’ve been a vegetarian for 19 years, I love to sew (especially for my daughter), and I have a bunny, dog, and 5 chickens. :)

  238. I recently rediscovered sewing after receiving a hand-me-down sewing machine that I hadn’t used since high school. The bags I made back then looked nothing like yours though!

  239. I have only recently discovered your fabrics and absolutely love them! The Neptune line was after my own heart, always wanted to be a marine biologist! Now, I’m just a mom that loves to make things with beautiful fabrics for my kids and friends. Thanks for doing a giveaway!

It was very fun to happen onto you and your mom’s shop. I love your line of fabric. I can’t wait for it to come out. I will still close my eyes and picture myself in an old farm house on 600 acres. Sigh

  242. I love your fabrics, especially any one with birds! :)

  243. OK, I admit that I am a fabric snob. I am working on a great quilt right now so I made sure my buddies know that it is Tula Pink’s Neptune. I love to impress them. Hushabye is equally gorgeous and this fabric snob would treat you bag very kindly.

  244. Wow a giveaway, thanks! Something about myself: your flutterby collection is actually what moved my fashion sewing self into the world of quilting (that, and I was tired of having clothes I had to iron all time time ;) ) – the prepacked kit for that quilt was the first I ever made.

I’m a mother of 2 creative, talanted girls (one who has hit the teenage years and is driving me insane!) a teacher of 4/5 yr olds, I make handmade gifts for friends family and even sometime foes, I sew, paint, make books, embroider, knit (well, just the once, an oval scalloped shawl for the aforementioned child when pregnant with her) and I sing and love to do backflips on the trampoline with my 9yr old! I don’t mind if I don’t win, your fabrics are prize enough for me!

  273. My daughter and I found your website sometime ago. We love your stuff. Thanks for bringing your amazing art to the fabric and quilting world.

  274. I absolutely love your fabric…all of it! It can turn any quilt, bag, whatever it might be that you’re using it for into a beautiful piece of artwork and makes sewing fun for us young women who are sick of the same old fabric that reminds us of the quilts our grandma’s used to sew!

Thanks for all of your beautiful work Tula!

  275. I am new to sewing and got my first machine about a month ago. I am very eager to learn and have already finished a few simple projects. My goal is to make cute clothes and other items. My long term goal is to make a quilt/quilts that can be passed down within my family for years to come. I thought sewing was a lost art, but I am now seeing that it is alive and hipper than ever! It is great to feel a sense of community and go back to the basics of life.

  276. I LOVE the PINK Hushabye bag!!!! PLEEEESE let it be mine!!! The pink Hushaby fabric line is so perfect! I can’t wait til it comes out!

I have been quilting and collecting fabric for 36 years. Fabric never ceases to thrill me! I like to pet it and look at it and lay it out in “color runs” and pet it some more……. I have a hard time cutting it though, so I’ve gotten quite enamored with charm packs. They’re already cut! YAY!

  278. Your bags are gorgeous. I just stumbled upon your blog and my face lit up when I saw that photo of the four bags. And then to find out you’re giving them away! Wow. 308. Great bags! Today was the last day of school, and I’m so glad!

  309. I am an avid cross stitcher but I have been following a few sewing blogs, and yours was the first to hit my favorite list. I have started collecting LOTS of awesome fabric, and am a beginner at the sewing machine. The stacks are getting high enough now that if I don’t become more than a “beginner” at the machine and start cranking out some bigger projects, I can be just as happy to roll around in all of the lusciousness of color and pattern. Keep up with the beautiful work and I will be watching! Oh, I would also love to win, I have never even left a comment on all of the blogs I stalk!
    hehe!

  310. I can’t wait until August to get my hands on such lovely fabric.

  311. Love the bags, adore the fabric!! August you say??? I’d love to have a local quilt shop… Oh well, this wonderful internet provides me with more fabric than I ~need~ already!

  312. I love your designs. You young women designers are so talented. I just finished a wonderful quilt in the Neptune assortment and my quilter did a pattern called Mermaid Lagoon on this which fits perfectly I love it. Thanks for all your beautiful designs.

  313. Oh, my goodness…….have I just stumbled onto something beautiful. I was thumbing thru the Stampington magazine about Women’s Workplaces and saw a red chair with white polka dots and STOPPED…..the article was about Camille Roskelley and I dug out a piece of paper and wrote down her blog address. I enjoyed reading about her trip to Portland with lots of pictures of the fabric designers from MODA…..my personal favorite fabric…and I came back to the site this morning to reach more in the archives…and I saw the name TulaPink………..and the rest as they say…is history. I love your fabric…the whimsey of the owls in the design. It appears that there’s been alot going on here that I never knew about…….how much fun it is to find something so enjoyable…!!! Thankyou

  314. Found your site by way of Camille’s at Simplify…will definitely be adding it to my favorites :) Congrats on the great new line!

  315. I love the beautiful fabrics. Thanks for the great giveaway.

  316. Hello! I loooove your fabric. I am especially fond of the “Nest” line and hope to be the proud owner of a lot of it some day.

So… random fact about me… I was born in England but have lived in Canada since I was 7. I still have people asking me why I don’t have a British accent.

I hope I win one of your beauties!

    Rachel

  317. Hi again — oh, oh, left my comment about finding you, love the bags…….on another (wrong) comment page – no wonder I can’t sew a bag, love to have one of yours. Wow, thanks for the opportunity and especially for not having to be to witty, creative, etc.

  318. Thank goodness this is random! I live near Seattle, have two wonderful daughters and one fabulous grandson. I’m a nursing student but love love love to get into the sewing room too!

  319. Hi Tula,
By day I’m a high school chemistry teacher and by night a fanatical quilter. But in 10 short days all that changes as summer vacation begins and by day (and night) I’ll be a quilter and chemistry will be forgotten until next September. Love your new line of fabric as I have loved your past ones–you go girl!!
    ann

  320. I want one! They look geat. I could make one but I’d prefer to brag about the bag and say you made it :)
I love your ranges and the blog. Thanks.

  321. Ooh! I love the bags- love them all, especially the blush (hint) and the chocolate (hint). I have some downtime now due to being downsized and have decided to get back to some projects.

  322. Those bags are great. My wife would really love one. I do not quilt or do crafts, but saw this page when she ran to the kitchen for some Trader Joe’s Coffee Bean Blast ice cream. I am not spying on her…, but hey one of those bags would really make her day! And I would be on her good side for at least a week! Can you PLEASE help me out here?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

  326. Thanks for a great giveaway and the chance to win. It’s my birthday next week, so would love to receive a little pressie in the mail. I will be celebrating it in the cold Sydney Australia weather so I’ll need something to brighten things up!
