Stack-O-Plates
Living in the country is great because there are all of these random things all over the place. It’s like nothing is regulated here. The other day I was driving for no particular reason, lost as usual (I dunno, to me a fence and a bail of hay is just not a landmark), I happened upon a little gem. It was one of the best junk barns I have ever seen! I bought a set of dishes, all various shades of white. There were 122 dishes in all for 60 bucks!I have plenty of dishes but that is not the point. The point is the bargain.
So anywhoo now I have all of these dishes and nothing to do with them. So I am gonna paint ‘em! super fun. I sort of want to paint grotesquely fluffy kittens on them doing bad kitty things. That might be a little much so for now I am open to ideas. If I work anything out on them I will be sure to let y’all know.

Chaneling Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter with those garish kittens, huh? Though hers don’t do bad kitty things… could be interesting! Just don’t turn into a short, toadlike woman, please!
that sounds so fun. I need to finish up a few projects so I can do something new.
I have a question about the cup on top of the stack of dishes–Where did it come from? Did you make it yourself? It is very cool and colorful.
BTW I love your fabrics and cannot wait to see what you come up with next!
Yes Gale, I painted the two cups on top. It’s my tester of the porcelain enamel paint to see what the colors really looked like. Fun, right?
You make me SMILE!
I want a set done like that cup with all the colors. Cool find.
Oooooh… the accidental bargain victim:) Nice:)
White canvas… ready for kittens… or whatever:)
Love that color test mag:)
I was totally thinking of Delores Umbridge. I think Michelle might be my soulmate.
did you already paint the mug??? because i love it!
Love the dishes! How’s the basil coming?
You could always share them with me ; )
I love the tester cup.
question- I have been wanting to do a similar project- are you going to fire the dishes in a kiln after painting? I’d like to find out if I can get away with not firing them since I don’t have a kiln and fear them as well…
I used a porcelain paint that you can get at any craft/art supply store. It air dries and has to set for 10 days. It says it’s dishwasher and microwave safe. I am not super sure about eating off of it though. I would take that one at your own risk.
ok…how do you “do” those hexagons? too cute but I can’t wrap my brain around them…and when do you do ‘free’ things. I’ve been unemployed for over a year now so money is tight to say the least! If you have pity on a ol’ gal…I love the collection “blush”…
blessings for a great day!
