Of things to come…

tailfeathers_01.jpg

There is always work to do. I hope y’all have noticed that I have been making an effort to keep up with my blog. I believe this makes three weeks in a row, a personal record for a self absorbed lazy bum like me, YAY!

So I would like to introduce you to the first sketch in my new line due out eons from now. Seriously, I think it’s something like three light years away. It’s always like this. It seems so far away from having fabric in my greedy little hands that I can barely stand it. Then it’s here, I have a couple of weeks to make some samples and boom! it’s all over and the next deadline approaches like it’s running from a three headed chicken. I wouldn’t trade it for anything but it still makes the day to day stuff a little hard to keep up with. Things like laundry just pale in comparison and I end up suck in a “where’s the beef” t-shirt and a pair of bermuda shorts. It could be worse.

    Looks beautiful.

I’m really interested - are you drawing onto the grid, or are your sketches on tracing paper over the grid paper?

The colours look really different, are the swatches just for colour, or are those fabrics part of the new line as well.

Thanks so much for showing us your work in progress - it is such an interesting career. I pore over my book of the drawings William Morris did to work out repeats. It fascinates me.

I can’t wait to see this fabric! It looks like it will be awesome, like all of the other fabrics you’ve done. I too like that you show some of the steps to designing fabric. This is something I’ve been interested in pursuing for awhile. What is your educational background? Can you recommend any books about fabric design that would give more insight?

    thanks!

  32. Bron Says:

The bird reminds me of an Australian Lyrebird - a wonderful bird who can mimic many sounds such as cameras clicking, chain saws in the forest, and many other bird sounds - though very very shy and hard to find in the rainforest - it too has a beautifully plumed tail very much like yours!

  33. Laura Says:

I fell in love with Hushabye - I want to make my girlfriend a baby quilt with this fabric….but now I think I love Plume! So many quilts, so little time…..

  34. saripu Says:
