Kansas City Modern Quilt Guild, ya you heard me…

stacks.jpg

We all need a place to go where we have something in common. I know that I do. Instead of waiting around for someone to start a group a couple of us decided to do it ourselves. Well, okay, I just showed up and have yet to do much of anything useful but that’s not the point now is it? Our very very first meeting ever is coming up. The guild is for people who love to make stuff or just like being around other people who like to make stuff. It doesn’t matter what you do or how you do it just come. Our first meeting will be an organizational meeting that will get the ball rolling and get this thing started. It’s going to be fun and amazing and you will leave with a sense of optimistic euphoria that can’t be rivaled by any chemical substance on earth. Maybe you’ll just have a good time and want to come back again next month and that’s okay too.

So here’s the nitty gritty:

When:

Saturday, January 23rd

10:00 am to 12:oo pm

Where:

Urban Arts & Crafts

4157 North Mulberry Drive

Kansas City, Missouri 64116

See you there!!

Oh why, oh why do I not live in Kansas City? I’ve been trying to find people in my area who love to sew and would love to get together for monthly (or so) meeting, but to no avail! Good luck with the new group, I’m sure it’ll be great!

I’m jealous and wish I could be there … but we’re starting a chapter in Raleigh-Durham, too! You’ll have to let me know if you’re ever back in the area for a visit …

Awesome idea… maybe I’ll start one in my area… let us all know how it goes and if you have any handy tidbits or organizational points to share :)

  10. Lyda Loehring Says:

That will be the neatest guild. I wish I still lived in KC . May be next month I can come. When I live in KC there wasn’t much to do for sewing. Thank goodness there was peddler’s wagon. I still make stops there when in town. Let us all know how it goes. May be I can start one in Jefferson City…….what a neat idea…..

  11. Lysa Says:

How cool! I may have to try to make it. This is too cool. I have read all of your blogs and never realized you all were in the KC area. I live in Topeka, about 45min to an hour west of the KC area. I do hope you guys will keep your meetings on the weekend so I can attend!

  13. KELLY Says:

I’ll be there! :) Coming from Omaha with my sis and a friend! :)
Any chance your new fabric will be at the store by then?
I’d love a reason to stop by and see your mom and shop for a while!

  15. Rachael Says:

This sounds like so much fun, is it open to everyone?? Should we bring stuff to work on or is this just informational??

  16. tula pink Says:

It’s just informational this time but bring a quilt or something to share if you want to. Totally not mandatory though.

  17. Nikki McDonald Says:

Just went by Harper’s Quilt Shop this morning to buy Gwen Marston’s latest liberated quilting book (love it, btw) and heard about the meeting you’re having this weekend… I’m coming and I’ll be bringing a friend!

I’m in the Blue Valley Quilters’ Guild as well. Am looking forward to seeing new ideas and meeting new people! Cannot wait!

    Nikki

PS… Am working on a quilt top using only scraps. Very haphazard. Will bring it to show… is a work in progress, but it’s going to be divine! :)

  18. Whitney Wilson Says:

Looking forward to going tomorrow..but actually am nervous. I am really new at this (just finished my first quilt). But I really LOVE doing it. All of my kids have just informed them they want a quilt now…OH NO! Anyways, I hope that I am not to overwhelmed.
