Tranquil Waters

I designed Tranquil Waters with the sunset in mind. From the deep sea blues at the bottom of the quilt you rise up through ocean depths through shallow brighter water straight up to open skies as the sun sets on the horizon. I know, thats all very lovely and poetic but really, that’s what I was thinking. I can be very deep and wistful when I want to. All of that aside, this is a great quilt for Salt Water’s blending of colors and creates a great opportunity to fussy cut the octopus which, if you know me at all, is something I take great pleasure in. Tranquil Waters originally appeared in American Patchwork and Quilting Magazine in 2009 to accompany another fabric collection called Neptune. It only seemed appropriate to bring this pattern back for my newest ocean inspired fabric collection, Salt Water. So I like to think of this quilt as an encore or sorts.
